Elect Jennifer Zbyszewski for School Board

Meet Jennifer

Personal History

I am a strong supporter of the public school system.

I grew up in Klamath Falls, Oregon. My mom was a teacher, and my grandmother and aunt were teachers, so the public school system was always a big part of my life.

I moved to the Methow Valley in 1987 for a Forest Service job transfer. My husband and I raised our son, Tom, here and he attended our public school from 1st through 12th grade. I was so impressed with the education opportunities the school provided, but also recognized the challenges the district faced.

I have been interested in joining the Methow Valley School District board of directors for many years, and now that I am retired, I can give this position my full attention.

Professional Experience

I retired from my 37-year career with the US Forest Service in 2017 as the Recreation and Wilderness Program Manager on the Methow Valley Ranger District.

Much of my job was working with interdisciplinary teams of scientists to develop projects and evaluate their potential environmental effects. Public involvement was key to the process, and I worked with many concerned citizens and groups to modify projects to address social and environmental concerns.

I also developed and managed large budgets, which included federal funding and grants.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management from Oregon State University.

Community Service

I am president of the Methow Valley Education Foundation board of directors. I served on the board of directors of the Little Star Montessori School in the 1990s.
